FROM SUPT MIKE PASKEWICZ:
May 9, 2012,
Dear Parents, Family Members, Community Members, Students,
and Staff:
Thank you for your careful consideration of the Bond
Proposal. As a result, the proposal was
approved by voters. While this is a very
difficult economic time for many in our community, your vision for the future
of Northview carried the vote.
Voters did a very detailed review of the components of the
bond proposal, assessed the economic impact on their families and businesses
and made an informed vote. Now we engage
in the project planning process and I assure you we will share the timelines
with the entire community. You will be
able to track our progress at www.nvps.net.
The Northview Board of Education was courageous in placing the
ballot question before voters. They
continue to have a future focus. We
greatly appreciate the work of the Friends of Northview Public Schools
citizens’ committee and chairpersons Michael Rohwer, Ginger Rohwer, and Jeff
Lambert. Their dedication to providing
factual information to our community and running an honest and ethical campaign
is validation that our community is in good hands.
Once again, thank you for approving the bond proposal “that
is more than a pool.” You have taken
another step in preserving the Northview culture for present and future
students and their families. We continue
to work together to prepare our students for life’s next step. We Are Northview.
Sincerely and With Great Respect,
Mike Paskewicz, Superintendent Northview Public Schools

Good News! We could all use some! Click here to read details about the selling of Northview's construction bonds and the resolution to hold a Bond Election on May 8, 2012. The bond proposal will ask voters to approve $11.9 million of renovations to the athletic/activities wing of NHS and includes the replacement of the existing pool. REMEMBER TO VOTE ON MAY 8, 2012.
HOME PROPERTY VALUE HINGES ON HEALTH OF SURROUNDING AREA
(Grand Rapids Press - Your Money Headline, September 12, 2011).
"Buying a home that declines sharply in property value can put you
underwater on your mortgage, erode your net worth and leave you unable
to relocate for a new job or adapt to a change in household income." Andrew Schiller, creator of www.NeighborhoodScout.com
a real estate research website, says that having desirable amenities
within the neighborhood is the second major factor in whether a
neighborhood will appreciate or decline in property value. The top two
key amenities that can add value to a neighborhood are 1.) Low crime
rates and 2.) GOOD PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
The bond
proposal being placed before voters is more than a replacement pool. It
is also a major renovation of the athletic/activities wing of the high
school. The renovations to the athletic/activity wing and tennis
courts are estimated at $5 million. The new pool and diving area is
estimated at $6.9 million. If approved
by voters this will ensure the entire high school is in good shape for the next
30 years. Go to www.nvps.net and click
on the "tax calculator" to get an estimate of what your
investment would be.
